Eddy Danger of the Sun

Why Danger of the Sun? To be frank, I don't know
myself exactly..... I got the idea to this kite when I saw sculls
in Native American Indian designs. And obviously, you feel that
there is a Danger in the Sun, when you see these sculls. So, I
created this kite in a typical Santa Fee kind off style with a nice
border. My invention to this - at least I like to believe that - is
the mosaic style to bring out the shape of the sculls with colors.
Another Danger of the Sun I felt frequently this year when I was
getting burned at kite festivals.
- Made: June 1995

Danger of the Sun II

After I did the small Eddy, I wanted to create
something more unique. I further worked on the mosaic style in the
scull. But I decided to give also positive attributes to the sun.
Since we all live because the sun light is used by plants to
transform light energy into chemical energy, I created tropical
plants in a new style and arranged them around the scull.
- Made: November 1995
- Technique: Applique
- Size: ca. 11 x 9 feet feet (ca. 3.3 x 2.7 m)
- Material: 0.75 oz ripstop nylon, 16 and 18 mm glassfiber spars
(0.512 and 0.6'')
Detail of Danger of the Sun II

The detail shows better than the original kite
how much detail was put into the flowers, while the scull and the
mosaic were created more generous without much detail.
