Smithsonian's 30th aniversary festival was March 30th. I was there and entered the kite in the competition (Novelty, Master Class). The kite was awarded the first price in this category.
The maker and his son May 1998 behind the kite after it was hosed down in my backyard. My son was very interested in pulling at the lines :). he also likes a lot of colors.

Tiger watching you out of the forest. This detail is from the
bottom part of the kite.
Exit from Eden - Part 2. A curious title for a kite. But aren't we humans this time doing the job all ourselves by destroying the environment? Was Earth not Eden with all the plants and animals? The bottom part of the kite symbolizes the good things on Earth: animals and plants of the jungle and nature people living in a ballanced way together with them. The top part is a cross. We (humanity) this time nailed the earth on to it - we destroy earth. Instead of the nails you would expect in the hands I choose two indian eyes used in some mythology. Last, the eye in the center symbolizes awareness - watch out what you are doing with this planet. I hope we still have a choice preventing the worst - but have we really....... Who knows.
