Kai's Rokkaku Stack
Stack of Rokkakus flying in the blue sky.

My mother and me setting up the stack for flight on Langeoog,
Germany, 1993.

Tips to stack Rokkakus:
- The easiest is to bridle Rokkaku No. 1 with a normal combined
bridle.
- Connect all other Rokkakus with four lines to the previous
one.
- I just use 4 lines of equal length (I think about 3 meters
long).
- All these lines have a simple knot at the end.
- I wind these lines 2 times around the bridle points of the
cross-spars and secure them by a simple knot.
- The knot at the end of the lines will now slide in position
assuring equal length.
- Make sure that the connecting lines on the cross-spars are
secured on both sides.
- Secure by cutting vinyl endcap tip away, slide perfectly
fitting tube over spar, glue with crazy glue in position.
- All spars have to have the same bow, thus use ring and
swivel!
- Use very strong frame in first kite, normal frame in the
other.
- Be aware about the tremendous pull such stacks can
develop.
- Follow all kite safety rules! Don't fly the stack over people,
near power-lines, airports, roads!
- Follow all aviation rules of your country!
- Safety first, have a team with you to help!
- Stack has to be anchored before starting it in secure
place!
- If your line breaks the stack will fly very far away, use extra
heavy line!
These are just tips. Every kiteflyer following these tips has in
addition to adjust the situation to his/her own needs. This worked
for me, it may not work under all conditions as described. Every
kiteflyer trying such thing is solely responsible for any safety
issues him/her self! My Rokkakus are quite small (1.25 x 1 meter).
Even though the pull can be tremendous! Don't try anything if you
are not absolutely sure what you are doing.
