The festival in Verdun this year was a great hit! Numerous kite
flyers were invited from all over the world. This time I
concentrated a little bit on the German
delegation , Willi Koch , Frank Schwiemann and Rolf Sturm (the president of the
German Kite Flyers Association, Drachenclub Deutschland, DCD). The
picture shows from the left Mikel from Australia, Rolf with beard,
Frank and Willi. The stunt-kite demonstrations were very attractive
events and were performed beautifully by the teams: High
Performance and Bay Area Sundowners .
Another big spectacle was the mega-team
demonstration where up to 26 stunt kites were in the sky. Find
another photo of this spectacular event
here.
A photo of the festival site gives you an impression how it looked. I think the man in the middle is Jon Burkhardt and the woman is Alice from the ConnectiKiters. In front are some of Sandy and Ron Gibian's kites. Here is another view showing the festival site.

If you would like to see a detail of the kite above, you can get it here . The wind was calming down and Jose did land the kite pretty much directly on my camera. I was then laying on my back and we both laughed a lot about this :-). So a funny photo came out of this. Surprisingly good ;-).
An event that was appreciated by all kite flyers was the open gates . On the first day the sky was filled with little sled-kites.

I made numerous photos of Sandy and Ron Gibian's kites and can present a number of them in the following. It was really great to see them demonstrating all their kites. Whenever I asked them for something, they friendly answered my question or helped me. Very nice personallities :-).

I have more photos of Sandy and Ron's kites. A wonderful
applique kite with a tropical fish , a kite
he named Inlaws , and finally Charlie Chaplin and Inlaws here . Magnificent art
made by Sandy and Ron Gibian!

And finally some photos of kites made by Roberto Guidori. He likes to make very long kites.

As Roberto, Tal Streeter likes these kites. See him and Roberto flying at Verdun. Finally a nice 5 meter wingspan modified Cody made by Roberto.
I apologize to all who are not represented by photos here. My
disk space is the limit..... But you can find photos also in the
rec.kites archive.
